The in-house designed magnetic drive system of the LS-Z shaker guarantees accurate control and low energy consumption/heat dissipation even at high speeds. The maintenance-free direct drive is long lasting, robust, and economical. Our Kuhner Kelvin+ incubator has a precise temperature control and comes with a very consistent temperature distribution – for reliable and reproducible cultivation processes.
The LS-Z comes with three functional options: benchtop only/stand-alone, combinable with incubators from other manufacturers, or combined with our new Kuhner Kelvin+ for temperature control. The LS-Z shaker will accept loads up to 25 kg and the shaking diameter can be adjusted at any time. There are three standard shaking diameters (12.5, 25 and 50 mm) with others available on request. The LS-Z shaker unit tolerates an ambient relative humidity of up to 90% and features a detachable control unit and power cube. Therefore, the LS-Z is extremely flexible regarding its installation site: it can be placed in any lab incubator or temperature controlled room.
To take up as little work space as possible in your lab, the LS-Z shaker and Kuhner Kelvin+ both have a very small footprint and can thus either be placed under any standard table or lab bench or be used as a benchtop device. The compact Kuhner Kelvin+ has a flat front and space saving door mechanism. The big window provides a good overview of your cultivation vessels even with closed door.
LS-Z and Kuhner Kelvin+ are the perfect
starter set, e.g. for universities or start-ups with limited space and
resources. They can be used for cultivation of microbial, plant, human and animal cell
cultures. For cell culture fermentations, which require a humidity and CO2
controlled environment, LS-Z and Kuhner Kelvin+ are combinable with
the Flask Aeration System by Kuhner.
The LS-Z has a fixed stop position, which is especially useful for automated processes. The integration in a liquid handling system was successfully performed several times already. Due to the flexible Net60 interface, the LS-Z can be controlled by nearly every external software system.
The drive is protected from spills and the Kuhner Kelvin+ incubator can be easily dismounted for cleaning the whole surface or removal of any unwanted liquid. The incubator chamber can be cleaned with chemicals or sterilized.
As with all Kuhner products, the LS-Z and the Kuhner Kelvin+ are cost effective investments in quality backed with a five year warranty.

The light shading plate is easily placed in front of the door window to prevent radiation affecting the contents of the incubator chamber. It protects light sensitive media from UV, artificial and/or daylight. Simply lift up the light shading plate to look at the cultures without opening the incubator door. When light protection is no longer required, the plate is easily removed.

LS-Z and Kuhner Kelvin+
can be combined with Kuhner TOM (Transfer-Rate Online Measurement) for the
online measurement of oxygen transfer rate (OTR), carbon dioxide transfer rate
(CTR) and the respiratory quotient (RQ) in up to 16 individual shake flasks.
These data provide a better process understanding and guarantee an informed
process development. TOM is easily installed and can be operated with various
flask types and sizes including single use shake flasks. Kuhner TOM has zero
footprint on the shaker tray as it is mounted above. More.
IQ-OQ (Installation Qualification and Operation Qualification) is an equipment qualification according to GMP procedure. Kuhner offers this service which can also be carried out at the customer’s premises.
Microtiter trays are suitable for all types of plates (deep well, low well, 24, 48 and 96 well).
The universal tray can be fitted with clamps for Erlenmeyer flasks, test tube holders, microtiter plates, or custom made holders to suit your requirements. Rearranging these clamps and holders is quick and simple.

Kuhner has designed trays specifically for microtiter plates. Handles at the front of the tray open and close the special clamping mechanism allowing plates to be loaded and unloaded. Trays of different heights (22, 47 and 77mm) allow the stacking of up to four microtiter plates. The trays are suitable for all types of plates (deep well, low well, 24, 48 and 96 well).

Kuhner has designed a new tray for microtiter plates. This tray is fitted with springs which allows each well plate to be loaded and unloaded individually.

The whole tray is covered with a rubber mat and is particularly suitable for shaking containers at low speed (e.g. blood bags).

A tray fitted with sticky strips is especially useful for flasks shaken at low speeds (up to 200 rpm). The flask is placed directly on the sticky strip without the need for any other support. Flasks of all sizes can be used. Sticky strips are available individually or in sets and can also be supplied already fitted to a tray. The E-size tray accepts four strips.

These trays offer an alternative to both clamps and sticky mats and are ideal for tall containers. The tray is covered with a rubber mat and has an upright at each corner. The E size tray is fitted with four cross supports. These support bars securely clamp containers.
