Round-bottom flasks or wide-mouth bottles, routinely used for freeze drying of specimens, have to be frozen externally prior to drying. The cooling bath CB 18-40 is ideally suited for this purpose. Freezing under rotation, which forms relatively thin frozen layers, dramatically reduces the drying time.

The cooling unit of the cooling bath CB 18-40 consists of an air-tight refrigeration circuit. The refrigerating machine operates at its lowest temperature possible when in continuous working mode.
